NPA tells court second Meyiwa docket ‘has no merit’

A letter from the National Prosecution Authority (NPA) has revealed that it doesn’t believe the second docket in the Senzo Meyiwa murder case has any merit.

Senzo Meyiwa

The state handed the letter, which was read out in the High Court in Pretoria on Monday morning,  to defence advocate Zandile Mshololo ahead of the start of court proceedings.

Mshololo represents accused number five in the murder trial.

The letter was signed off by the Gauteng prosecutions head Andrew Chauke.

“This office did not make any decision or otherwise regarding the case docket,” the letter states.

“The alleged documents do not have any status as such was an internal opinion from a junior state advocate which was without merit.”

The docket names Sello “Chicco” Twala’s son Longwe as suspect number one, Kelly Khumalo as suspect number two, while her mother Gladness and sister Zandile are suspects number three and four, respectively.

They were all at Gladness Khumalo’s Vosloorus home on the night Meyiwa was shot and killed.

Meyiwa’s childhood friends Tumelo Madlala and Mthokozisi Thwala have been named as suspects five and six, while neighbour Maggie Phiri is suspect number seven.
