This after Letsatsi-Duba laid a complaint against Mkhwebane for allegedly being in possession of a classified document. Mkhwebane laid a counter-charge, accusing the minister of interfering with her constitutional duties.

Hawks spokesperson Hangwani Mulaudzi says Letsatsi-Duba accused the minister of failing to hand over a declassified document to Mkhwebane, which she needed in connection with her investigation into the so-called rogue unit at the South African Revenue Service.

Both laid charges at the Brooklyn police station in Pretoria in March and April this year, with the charges later referred to the Hawks for further investigation.

"It was then taken to the DPP in Pretoria who then declined based on the fact that the evidence and nature of the contraventions of the two statutes did not warrant further investigation.

"We have informed both parties and the case has now been closed."
