NSFAS receives 190k applications for 2019
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is satisfied with the number of applications so far received for the 2019 academic year.
The aid scheme says it has received over 191 887 applications within two months.
NSFAS spokesperson Kagisho Mamabolo says the number of applicants has doubled compared to the previous year.
"We are pleased with the numbers we have received so far," says Mamabolo.
The aid scheme says it has also not had any problems with communicating with applicants.
He adds the largest number of applications thus far, come from Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.
Mamabolo says the challenges faced by the scheme so far is that close to 30 000 of applicants have not submitted the appropriate documents.
"The Administrator is working very hard with a team of experts to make ensure there is a necessary system in place to filter through all applications."
