Ntanzi wanted for crimes prior to Meyiwa arrest

A new witness in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial has told the Pretoria High Court that accused number two, Bongani Ntanzi, was wanted for other crimes prior to his arrest for the footballer's murder.
This is according to witness metro police officer Vus’umuzi Mogane, who began his testimony testified on Thursday.
Mogane was one of the police officers who arrested Ntanzi in June 2020.
According to Mogane, Ntanzi was wanted for a murder case in Nongoma in KZN that involved a gun, as well as a Vosloorus case which involved drugs.
Mogane told the court Ntanzi was wanted for another Vosloorus case not linked to the Meyiwa murder, and a murder case in Nongoma.
“As we were looking for him we discovered that there were certain cases that he was involved in apart from this one.
“Since he had many cases, there was a big case that was in Nongoma. And there was another case in Vosloorus but not this one.”
Ntanzi was arrested on 16 June at his Phokeng home in Rustenburg.
He is one of five men who are on trial for Meyiwa's murder.
A trial within a trial is currently underway in the Pretoria High Court, where the admissibility of alleged confessions made by accused one Muzi Sibiya and Ntanzi is being argued.
The defence has argued that Sibiya and Ntanzi were both coerced and assaulted into admitting the details of Meyiwa's murder.
