Ntuli takes office, reveals KZN cabinet

Thami Ntuli was sworn in by KZN High Court Judge President Thoba Portia Poyo-Dlwati at the Woodburn Rugby Stadium in Scottsville, Pietermaritzburg.
The IFP politician took his oath of office in front of hundreds of delegates on Tuesday.
Ntuli was elected at the KZN Legislature on Friday, after an agreement between the NFP, DA, ANC and IFP to govern the province.
"I say this because when May 29, 2024, was announced as the day for provincial and national elections, no political organisation or party ever resolved that it would campaign so that it could share the leadership of the country and provinces, with another political organisations," he said.
"Almost all organisations and parties entered the election campaign with one objective: to singlehandedly lead the government of this country and of this province.
"On the other hand, the men, women, and the youth of our province, however had another objective – which was to ensure that no one organisation or party would receive enough votes to govern on its own. Our people have taught us that they in fact are our real bosses; and we are only their servants. Hence, this marks the beginning of a journey of power-sharing among parties in the province of KwaZulu-Natal."
The four parties, which have a combined total of 41 seats, have agreed to co-govern KZN.
They have pushed the MK party, which had won the province with 45%of the vote, to the opposition benches.
Ntuli announced the following KZN cabinet:
Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs – Musa Zondi
Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) – Thulasizwe Buthelezi
Health – Nomagugu Simelane
Social Development – Mbali Shinga
Public Works and Infrastructure – Lukas Meyer
Finance – Francois Rodgers
Agriculture and Rural Development – Thembeni kaMadlopha-Mthethwa
Transport and Human Settlements – Siboniso Duma
Education – Siphosihle Hlomuka
Sports, Arts and Culture – Mntomuhle Khawula
