Updated | By Puseletso Petersen
A charge of culpable homicide has been laid against the driver of a minibus-taxi involved in yesterday's fatal accident in Ntuzuma, north of Durban.
Four school children, three boys and a girl, died after a bus and taxi collided yesterday.
More than 20 others - mostly children - were hurt.
The children who lost their lives are aged between 12 and 16 while the Department of Education says the pupils were from the Isivandanda Technical High School and Isibonelo High School in KwaMashu.
The police's Thembeka Mbhele says investigations are underway.
"A culpable homicide case has been opened for investigation. The driver was also injured and he is in the hospital," says Mbhele
KZN transport officials have said that a preliminary report indicated the driver refused to adhere to a call to stop at a roadblock - moments before the collision. It's also alleged the vehicle was overloaded.
