Numsa expulsion confirmed at Cosatu congress
Updated | By ANA
The expulsion of the metalworkers union Numsa was confirmed on Thursday by a vote on the last day of Cosatu's four-day congress in Midrand.
The expulsion was put to vote after the Food and Allied Workers Union (Fawu) objected to the congress accepting the expulsion.
Fawu wanted Numsa to be reinstated. However, when the matter was put to the vote Fawu lost by a wide margin.
The votes in favour of Numsa’s expulsion were 904 and only 67 against the move. The vote was conducted by show of hands.
