The sit-in by more than 200 unemployed nurses in the North West province has been postponed pending engagements with government.

The meeting took place in Rustenburg on Sunday, where nurses union, Denosa, says the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) requested to be given time till Friday to look at ways to meet the union's demands to employe the nurses.
"In the meeting, the department has confirmed the amount of R100 million allocation to Health for the appointments of nurses post concurrence reviews, between Health and Treasury," says Denosa North West Student Movement Provincial Secretary, Mothusi Lebatle.
"So, the MEC and team requested to be given at least a week to engage with the departmental administration, so they finalize the administration part and revert back to us with a positive answer."
Lebatle says the MEC agreed that the administration will deal with the advert for the nurses who completed their community service between January and June 2024.
Furthermore, the MEC agreed that those who have gone to school while working for the department (Recognition of Prior Learning or RPLs) should not be included in the interviews.
However, the process of competence assessment will unfold between the employer and RPLs.
