The Hawks in North West have arrested a couple for dealing in drugs and 250 counts of money laundering amounting to R4.6 million.
John Mahlangu (44) and Emily Dube (39) appeared in the Mogwase Magistrates' Court on Friday.
They were nabbed on Thursday in Ledig following investigation on drugs and drug trafficking activities around Ledig and Sun City.
Mahlangu was charged on five cases of drugs and drug trafficking, as well as a money laundering charge.
"Dube was only charged with money laundering after investigations revealed that large amounts of money were transferred from Mahlangu's bank account into her bank account between 2019 and 2020.
"The accused made a brief court appearance and were remanded in custody," said Hawks spokesperson Tinyiko Mathebula
Their matter was postponed to 13 August 2024 for formal bail application.
