Updated | By Karabo Tebele
The Education Department in North West is investigating a matric school trip which claimed the lives of three pupils and left several others injured.
Eighteen-year-old Isaac Nkosi, 20-year-old Tshepiso Moagi and Amogelang Diphoko (20) died when the taxi they were travelling in overturned in Brits on Friday.
Eleven others were injured in the crash.
North West Education spokesperson Elias Malindi says the trip was apparently organised by Rethusegile Secondary School.
He says the Department of Labour will form part of the team investigating the trip.
“This team is the one that will conduct the investigations, to follow up if normal processes were followed when a school is having a trip.
“Currently, all trips are cancelled due to Covid-19, but the team is going to investigate all the circumstances surrounding this trip that was undertaken by the learners.”
