NW municipality settles Eskom debt
Updated | By OFM
Eskom has withdrawn its decision to leave the residents of the Matlosana Local Municipality in North West - which includes Klerksdorp - without electricity, following moves to pay off the outstanding debt.
Spokesperson of the municipality Ntswaki Makgetha said they were able to pay the R18.8 million which was owed to Eskom earlier this week.
The municipality was recently given notice of a court order that would have seen power cut if they failed to pay the debt.
Eskom initially gave a date of 12 November that residents would be without electricity.

Makgetha said the municipality is pleased with the progress made and also issued an apology to Eskom.
The municipality also confirmed that it is currently collecting debt owed to it.
