The premier, who tested positive on Wednesday, chose to go into voluntary self-quarantine at one of the health facilities in the province.

His spokesperson Vuyisile Ngesi says Mokgoro is recovering and not showing any symptoms of the virus.

"However, he will see out the 14 days mandatory quarantine period but at the moment the premier is in good spirit and recovering very well.”

Ngesi dismissed reports that Mokgoro has been admitted to ICU.

"Those where false reports we don't know where they emanate from there is no truth in those reports.

"He was never been in ICU, there has never been a reason for that. You must remember when the premier tested positive he only had a mild cough.”
