Police in North West have arrested a 40-year-old man on charges of statutory rape.
The man, who is said to be an ANC ward councillor in Kanana, was arrested on Saturday.
The 40-year-old man is alleged to have shared inappropriate pictures with the complainant and recorded video wherein a man was seen having sexual intercourse with a boy.
The video went viral on social media platforms, especially WhatsApp.
Police spokesperson Sabata Mokgwabone says the man is due to appear in court soon.
“In the second and separate case, but involving the same suspect, two counts of statutory rapes were laid on Saturday evening, by the parents of two boys, both aged 15.
“The public is therefore requested to refrain from recirculating the video. He is expected to appear before the court soon.”
