Nzimande: Zuma must condemn attacks against Mapaila
Updated | By Jacaranda FM news
The South African Communist Party (SACP) secretary general Blade Nzimande has called on President Jacob Zuma to condemn "acts of intimidation" against its second deputy secretary Solly Mapaila.
Nzimande was attending the Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) Central Committee this morning.
A group of people claiming to be MK Veterans surrounded Mapaila's house yesterday holding placards saying "hands off Zuma".
"We are not blaming the president, but he has a duty to stand up and say not in my name," says Nzimande.
Nzimande described the events as nothing less than "thuggery".
"People must not start things which may take this country to a place we do not want to go to. We should respect private homes and families."
