#OccupyLuthuliHouse march scaled down

#OccupyLuthuliHouse has urged its members to rather not take part in a planned march to the ANC's headquarters on Monday morning.

Luthuli House

The campaign consisting of disgruntled ANC members, announced the protest last week.

According to the chairperson of #OccupyLuthuliHouse, Sasabona Manganye, they had to scale down the march after alleged threats of violence - and a heavy presence of Police and Metro Police around Luthuli House from early Monday.

"This is evidence of the degree of intolerance that has crippled our organisation. The prevailing culture of intolerance in our ranks is rather unfortunate and sadly depicts anyone with dissenting views as an enemy or agent provocateurs. ," Manganye told Jacaranda FM News.

He added that they are baffled that barbed was used to create barriers between "a people’s organisation that leads society and people with every intention to peacefully demonstrate and deposit their concerns".

"We must reiterate that these tactics and degree of paranoia is no different from those sanctioned by the apartheid regime which our glorious organisation vehemently fought against. It is with utter dismay that we witness, in a democratic dispensation leaders of our organisation behave with such impunity and contempt towards its members and children," he added.

Manganye says only their leadership as well as members who travelled from other provinces will hand over a memorandum to the ANC, demanding that President Jacob Zuma as well as the National Executive Committee resign.

"This is not the last event, we have many more planned for the near future," Manganye said.
