A 27-year-old shop manager was fatally shot in Pretoria on Monday morning.
The man was gunned down at Pretoria Chicken and Meat Wholesalers.
Police spokesperson Bonginkosi Msimango says the store manager and security guards were on their way to the bank to deposit money, when three armed robbers hit.
Colleague Pieter Swanepoel was at the scene at the time of the incident and says it appeared the store manager was shot through the shoulder.
“The suspects managed to get away with the weekend’s takings, which was about R140 000,” Swanepoel says.
Msimango says a red Toyota Corolla which was used as a gateway car was later recovered.
Police are investigating a case of murder and armed robbery.
