The Johannesburg Emergency Management Services says one person has been injured following a fire that broke out at a building in central, Johannesburg.

The fire broke out on Saturday morning on Kerk and Goud Streets.
Spokesperson Nana Radebe-Kgiba says more than 20 makeshift shacks in the building have been destroyed.
The blaze has left over 50 people displaced.
"Upon arrival, firefighter crews found the building with shacks fully engulfed with flames. One patient was transported to a health care facility for further medical care."
"The fire spread very quickly because of the combustible materials used to build shacks. EMS will conduct preliminary investigations to determine what caused the fire after firefighting operations are done."
"Disaster Management is on the scene to assist the affected families," she added
