Operation Dudula: No political will to strengthen borders
Updated | By Princess Mahogo
Operation Dudula members have vowed to “humble the government” during the 2024 elections if it continues to ignore their grievances.

The organisation, along with various other structures, are expected to march to the Union Buildings in Tshwane on Thursday.
Members of Operation Dudula and 35 other organisations are set to march under the banner of the Sisonke People's Forum.
Operation Dudula spokesperson Patrick Mokgalusi says they are unhappy with the government’s lack of action against illegal immigrants.
He says they expect the president to personally receive their memorandum of demands.
“This government sometimes do not respect their people because when a small organisation like us goes there to deliver a memo, they send a security guy to receive it but when it’s big organisations they send a certain minister from the Presidency or even the president himself.
“If they keep disrespecting us like this, we are going to humble them next year during national elections. We are going to humble them on the ballot paper.”
Mokgalusi says the government does not have the political will to strengthen the country’s borders.
“We have got beautiful laws in this country but we are lacking the enforcement, there is no will to enforce. Therefore, people are going to govern themselves if the government fails to take the lead.
“Communities are fed up because jobs are taken by foreigners. As a leader, if you love your country and your people, you should listen to them.”
The Tshwane metro police have indicated it will deploy officers to monitor the march.
