Eskom has recovered over R243 million since the launch of operation Khanyisa in 2010, the power utility said on Friday.
Eskom energy losses management programme (ELP) national project sponsor, Maboe Maphaka said other campaign successes so far included physical audits of 2.35 million meters, 112 arrests, and 60 court cases and convictions.
"These convictions include the first successful prosecution of two electricity theft suspects on racketeering charges, who received a combined sentence of 111 years," said Maphaka.
He called on all South Africans to unite with those who had already joined the fight against electricity theft.
Operation Khanyisa is a national partnership campaign established to fight electricity theft and related energy losses in South Africa.
