Opposition react to President Zuma's Nkandla apology
Updated | By Laila Majiet & Anton Meijer
Opposition political parties insist President Jacob Zuma should have resigned on Friday evening.
They were left unconvinced with his apology on the Nkandla issue.
Many South Africans on Twitter anticipated he would resign as President following the Constitutional Court ruling.
However, Zuma issued an apology saying he had taken the wrong legal advice.
"I respect the judgment and will abide by it. I consistently stated I'd pay an amount for non-security upgrades at Nkandla."
DA leader Mmusi Maimane said the President misled the nation.
"Jacob Zuma proceeded to tell South Africans that he did not violate the Constitution whilst the judgment makes it very clear he did.
"Jacob Zuma is not fit to be president. I would have expected him to do the honourable thing, but you cannot expect that from a broken president," Maimane said.
EFF leader Julius Malema said the president had wasted the country's time.
"He was just responding to the requirements of the day, being an April fool, and thinking he can make a joke and fool of all of us."
Malema says Zuma should have resigned out of respect for the Constitution and the Constitutional Court judgment.
He must be thinking we are all fools

Meanwhile, UDM leader Bantu Holomisa says Zuma is "undermining the intelligence of South Africans".
"Zuma is now blaming his legal advisors for the mistakes which led to him violating our Constitution.
"The ANC should seriously consider recalling this gentleman. He is not serious," Holomisa said.
