Another person has been arrested in Johannesburg for trying to smuggle cocaine through the OR Tambo International Airport by swallowing the drugs, police said on Friday.

The 24-year-old woman, travelling with an Angolan-issued passport, was arrested after it was found that she had swallowed close to a kilogram of wrapped cocaine. She had arrived at the airport on a flight from Sao Paolo Brazil.
“She is the second person this week to have tried the swallowing trick, hoping that she will pass the airport’s checks undetected,” said police spokesman, Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi.
On Tuesday, a man, believed to a be a Nigerian citizen, was arrested after scanners at the airport picked up that he had swallowed 1,1 kilograms of “cocaine bullets”.
“Paul Okechukwu Okwo, 46, was arrested by the same team [Transnational Investigation Team] on Tuesday shortly after landing from Brazil. He was en route to Lagos, Nigeria, when scanners revealed that he had swallowed drugs.”
Okwo appeared in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Thursday on drug dealing charges. His case was postponed to June 15. - ANA
