Pirates' fans stormed the field in the 81st minute of the game after Mamelodi Sundowns were leading 6-0.

Violent clashes broke out between supporters, with several people injured.

Khoza, who is also the chairperson of the Premier Soccer League (PSL), addressed the media at Rand Stadium in Johannesburg.

While condemning the violence in the strongest possible terms, Khoza made it very clear that to protect himself, he can only comment on the weekend's events in his capacity as chairman of the club and not as chairman of the league.

Khoza says he does not want to pre-empt any punishment which may be meted out against the club.

"If I make any comment, I might be seen to be pre-empting or influencing the outcome of the tribunal, so I think I must desist and protect myself," Khoza says.

He has pledged his full cooperation to the authorities, but insists the matter rests entirely with the league.

Khoza says the matter will receive the highest priority in terms of the law.

"A failure to do so will result in a deterioration that will affect fuelling of football, the sponsors, the broadcasters and the public in ways that will erode the gains we have made and defend bitterly," he says.
