Oscar arrives for fourth day of sentencing proceedings
As Pistorius briskly made his way to the entrance of the court, accompanied by police officers, Veronica Theron from Pretoria North, who had eagerly waited for the athlete from earlier in the morning, touched him on the chest.
The 55-year-old was in tears as she spoke about touching and seeing Pistorius, who was convicted of the culpable homicide of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
"I feel wonderful. This is fantastic -- absolutely marvellous," she said.
"Other people may not understand, I truly believe he will pay for it with the rest of his life -- people should give him a break."
She said she would wait for him "all over again".
"Next time I will move right to where he is when he gets out [of his car]. He is charming," Theron said.
"He is a very nice clean young man."
With excitement in her eyes, she said: "This was it. It was the best."
As Steenkamp's parents Barry and June arrived outside the court, Theron shook June's hand.
"Sorry about your daughter."
Theron said she felt like she had to say something to them.
Prosecutor Gerrie Nel is set to wrap up his questioning of Steenkamp's cousin Kim Martin on Thursday. Martin is testifying in aggravation of sentence against Pistorius.
On Wednesday, tears flowed in court as Martin spoke about how it had felt like the "end of the world" when she found out Steenkamp had been killed.
It was the first time the court had heard testimony from one of Steenkamp's relatives and Martin said she felt she had an obligation to be Reeva's "voice".
Barry Roux, for Pistorius, indicated to the court that he would ask Martin only two "short" questions on Thursday.
Judge Thokozile Masipa reminded the lawyers that proceedings need to be concluded soon as she would not be available from next week.
On September 12 Pistorius was found guilty of the culpable homicide of Steenkamp, but not guilty of her murder. Pistorius had claimed he thought there was a burglar in his toilet when he fired four shots through the locked door in the early hours of February 14 last year, killing Steenkamp. The State had argued he killed her during an argument.
Masipa also found Pistorius guilty of discharging a firearm in public, when a shot went off as he held his friend Darren Fresco's Glock pistol under a table at Tasha's restaurant in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg, in January 2013.
Pistorius was found not guilty on two firearms-related charges -- illegal possession of ammunition, and shooting through the open sunroof of a car with his 9mm pistol while driving with friends in Modderfontein on September 30, 2012.
