Oscar Pistorius: Defence delivers closing arguments in sentencing hearing
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
The North Gauteng High Court on Wednesday heard that a dangerous perception - that Oscar Pistorius intended on killing Reeva Steenkamp - was created in the public.
Advocate Barry Roux argued in mitigation of sentence in Pistorius' sentencing hearing after he was convicted of murder in connection with Steenkamp's shooting death on Valentine's Day in 2013.
"Many people have either an unwillingness, or an inability to set the bad emotions aside and to look at the true facts and to say 'but what really happened' instead of saying 'I don't believe it," Roux said.

Roux also referred to the case where former rugby player Vleis Visagie shot and killed his daughter by accident, after mistaking her for a burglar.
"There must be an unease when anyone tells you 'you must send Mr Pistorius [to jail for 15 years]. How is that so far, far removed from the Vleis Visagie case? There are difference, but is it so far removed that the one should not be prosecuted and the other one must be sentenced to 15 years?" Roux asked.
