Pistorius shot and killed his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp from behind a closed toilet door on Valentine's Day in 2013. He claimed the fatal shooting at his house in Pretoria was an accident after he mistook his girlfriend for an intruder.
Pistorius was also given a three year sentence, suspended for five years, for a firearms offence.
Last month Pistorius' lawyers said they has secured an agreement to postpone the revised sentencing of their client. Pistorius was initially found guilty of culpable homicide and sentenced to five years in prison and was released on parole after serving about a year.
However, his conviction and sentence for culpable homicide was overturned on appeal by the state. He was convicted of murder.
The 29-year-old athlete was denied the right to appeal against his murder conviction by the country's highest court.
Sentencing of the fallen athletics star will be formally postponed to 13 June, when his legal team will try to convince Judge Thokozile Masipa to hand down a sentence of less than the prescribed 15 years. - ANA
