Oscar Pistorius meets Reeva's parents for ‘victim-offender-dialogue’

Convicted killer Oscar Pistorius has met with the parents of his late girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp for a "victim-offender-dialogue" (VOD).

The Department of Correctional Services says the former Paralympian was moved to a facility in Gqeberha to meet with Reeva's parents.
Pistorius, who was convicted of his then-girlfriend’s murder in 2016, was later transported back to the Atteridgeville prison in Pretoria to serve the remainder of his sentence.
Correctional Services spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo said participating in the VOD does not equate to the end of a sentence or a parole placement.
"It was in November 2021 when we issued a statement on the need for Pistorius to be at St Albans Correctional Centre in the Eastern Cape, as the victims were based in Gqeberha. We can now confirm that the VOD process has been fulfilled.
"There is a need to emphasise that inmates are required to partake in the VOD as part of their rehabilitation path wherein they are able to acknowledge the harm they have caused to their victims and the society at large.”
