Oudtshoorn quake temporarily closes Cango Caves
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
Oudtshoorn's famous Cango Caves were temporarily closed following a 3.4 magnitude tremor in the area this morning.
Gerhard Otto from the Eden District Municipality's Disaster Management Team says the tremor originated on the Cango fault line, just north of Oudtshoorn at a depth of 6 kilometres.
He says the quake was felt in smaller towns like Prince Albert and as far as George and Knysna.
"There was, fortunately, no damages reported to the Eden Disaster Centre, or any loss of life. As a precautionary measure, the Cango Caves were closed, but they will be opening in due course," he said.
Felt a tremor in #Oudtshoorn about 10 minutes ago. Anybody else feel it?
