OUTA ‘not willing’ to retract claims against NSFAS’ Khosa

The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse on Sunday said there is no substance to the demand by NSFAS chairperson Ernest Khosa for the organisation to retract corruption allegations against him.

Khosa is currently on a leave of absence amid an inquiry into damning recordings about him and Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande.

OUTA is accusing Khoza and Nzimande of defrauding NSFAS through kickbacks from service providers.

The civil society organisation’s CEO, Wayne Duvenage, says they do not understand the urgency for the report to be retracted

“On Friday, we did receive a letter from Mr Ernest Khosa’s lawyers demanding that we withdraw or retract the report that we put on our website over a month ago. We find it very strange, first of all, that he waits for a month and then urges us to retract our report within two working days. We find that quite ludicrous.

“Secondly, we have had a look at his lawyers’ letters. We don’t believe that there is any substance therein. We have not transgressed any laws or regulations, so we will be writing back to him in the next couple of days and are very willing to meet with him if he would like. But for now, I don’t believe that we will be retracting that report.”
