The organisation's Wayne Duvenage spoke to JacarandaFM News following a Sanral press conference Tuesday morning where Sanral points out errors on Outa e-tolling reportthe roads agency said the report was inaccurate and misleading.

Outa is sticking to its guns and maintains there was a 321% over expenditure on the Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project which totalled nearly R18 billion.

Sanral, however, denied overpaying.

Project manager Alex van Niekerk explained Outa was making use of various reports to support its claims, but doing so out of context.

Duvenage said Sanral was trying to vilify a legitimate report and Outa would hold a press conference next week to stand behind its report.

"The question which we ask of Sanral is: did the public get fair value for R17.9 billion for this road construction? We believe not at all. We believe these costs of this road have been highly inflated for various reasons. We believe that there needs to be deeper scrutiny and we are scrutinising and finding even more facts and even more concerns around this," Duvenage said.
