Panayiotou stands accused of masterminding the abduction and murder of his schoolteacher wife Jayde in April last year.

All three accused have been denied bail and have remained in custody since their arrest.

Panayiotou was initially denied bail in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court, and then again in the Grahamstown High Court when he appealed against the original decision to deny him bail.

In December last year, Port Elizabeth High Court Judge Dyalin Chetty also dismissed an application by his defence team for access to the State’s case docket, having previously argued that it would assist them in preparing a new bail application for their client.

Judge Chetty gave no reasons for his decision.
