Pandor: Govt to publish electric vehicle strategy ‘soon’
Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Naledi Pandor says the government is set to publish an electric vehicle strategy in the coming months.
Pandor spoke at the South Africa–Germany Bi-National Commission on Tuesday, where she hosted her German counterpart Annalena Baerbock.
The commission comprises several working groups, including security policy, economy and energy.
“Our government will publish its strategy for electric vehicles in a few months, and we hope that the German automotive companies that are here already in South Africa, will utilise this new policy and strategy as an opportunity to expand their capacity and produce electric vehicles in the same quantity and quality as they do internal combustion engine vehicles at the moment,” said Pandor.
The two ministers are also expected to touch on geopolitics, BRICS, and climate change during their discussions.
