Parents meet conjoined twins for the first time after surgery
In a story that has tugged at the heart strings of many - a surgery separating American conjoined twins has been a success.
The special moment showing the parents seeing their children for the first time has been captured on camera.
Twins Anias and Jadon were born 13 months ago conjoined at the head.
Led by renowned neurosurgeon, Dr James Goodrich, the almost 26-hour surgery was performed at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore Medical Centre in New York City.
This has been the fourth procedure the boys have undergone.
The story has garnered a huge following online with the video being viewed over 3-million times.
The mother, Nicole McDonald, has taken to Facebook to thank the medical team at the hospital for their dedication.
"I had no idea that our story had been rippling out in every direction. As absolutely humbled as I am for all of the encouraging messages I've received, it's hard for me to take any credit for the miracle that these boys are," she wrote.
The children are still at the critical phase of recovery.
Meanwhile, twin girls that are conjoined at the chest and abdomen were born last week in Pongola, northern KZN. Doctors say any kind of surgery will only be pursued in few months.
