Parliament Committee gears up for inquiry into Eskom

The Portfolio Committee on Public Enterprises says it will this week be preparing for an inquiry into Eskom's alleged involvement in state capture.

The committee will be briefed by the South African Council of Churches (SACC), on the findings of its investigation into the matter.

Committee chairperson, Zukiswa Rantho, says they cannot begin the inquiry without enough information.

"We have objectives but we need more information to achieve those objectives. Tuesday we are calling the SACC and academics to explain to us what they mean when they speak of state capture. They are some of the organisations that have reports on State capture," Rantho says.

She says the inquiry will not start in August as scheduled.

"It is going to be impossible to start the inquiry on the 1st of August as per the program. There are still things that are coming out that happened during the time of Brian Molefe and Ben Ngubane. We therefore want to interact with this information so that we get into inquiry knowing exactly what to ask," says Rantho.
