Parliament considering Absa report
Updated | By MornéJK
Parliament has confirmed that it has received Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane's report into the apartheid-era bailout given to Absa's predecessor Bankkorp.

Mkhwebane wants Parliament to amend the Constitution to allow the Reserve Bank to play a bigger role in the implementation of inclusive economic growth.
Parliamentary spokesperson, Molotho Mothapo says the chairperson of the National Assembly's Portfolio Committee will now start a process of consultation.
"Parliament officially received the report and as it is practise with all reports of the public protector, especially those that concern of require the action of Parliament, they will be subjected to an internal process.
"We only received a copy of the report and the process is such that it will be made available to all members of parliament," he says.
Parliament will then look at the legal aspects.
"Parliament will consider the report through its usual internal processes and determine an appropriate course of action," Mothapo says.
There is no time frame attached to the review process.
