Parole granted to man who orchestrated Anni Dewani murder

Zola Tongo, who pleaded guilty to the murder of Swedish tourist Anni Dewani in Cape Town, has been granted parole.
Dewani was shot in killed while on honeymoon in 2010.
The 42-year-old Tongo pleaded guilty to orchestrating Dewani’s murder and was sentenced to 18 years in prison.
Tongo, who was a shuttle bus driver at the time, told the court he was paid R15 000 by Anni’s husband Shrien Dewani to find him a hitmen.
The husband was arrested in Britain but later released due to lack of evidence.
The Department of Correctional Services says his parole will run from 21 June 2022 until 6 June 2028.
