Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
The South African Weather Service has warned of extremely hot conditions over Gauteng, Mpumalanga and Limpopo this week.
Temperatures are expected to reach 37 degrees Celsius in parts of Limpopo and Mpumalanga.
Forecaster Tokelo Chiloane says temperatures are expected to drop on Friday.
"In terms of rainfall this week, we expect mostly cloudy conditions on Monday and Tuesday. We are also expecting a 30 to 60% chance of thundershowers in Mpumalanga on Thursday and Friday.
"This is also accompanied by 30% in showers and thundershowers in Gauteng and Limpopo for Thursday and Friday.”
Chiloane said although the weather is set to be scorching, it is not expected to reach the levels of a heatwave.
"At the moment, we have not reached a heatwave. For a heatwave, we need high temperatures for three consecutive days.”
