Patients to be back in Charlotte Maxeke in May

Gauteng says the more than 800 patients from Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital that were transferred to other health facilities will be back by 2 May.
All patients will be transferred during the weekend of 1-2 May while hospital services are expected to resume from the Monday.
The provincial government released a statement on Saturday.
A fire ripped through the hospital in Johannesburg last weekend.

Personal protective equipment (PPE) worth more than R40 million was destroyed after a fire started in a storage room.
The inferno then spread to a parking lot, causing significant damage to the building's structure.
A preliminary report revealed that the blaze affected Block 3 and 4 of the hospital.

The two other blocks shall remain closed until a detailed structural assessment is completed.
Officials say a phased approach will be implemented.
