Persistent rain leads to flooding in areas of Centurion

Emergency services in Tshwane has urged in Centurion residents to rather remain indoors amid the persistent rain.
Several areas in Centurion are experiencing flooding due to the persistent rain on Sunday.
Spokesperson Charles Mabaso says the Tshwane metro police are monitoring the affected areas.
“We have multiple roads such as Nellmapius Drive, Lenchen Avenue, Jan Smit, Rabie Street, End Street and John Vorster Drive flooded.
“We plead to residents to be cautious of fallen trees on the road. However, we urge them to stay at home as the Tshwane emergency services and other city departments are ensuring there are no major injuries.”
At the same time, the South African Weather Service has issued a warning for disruptive rain over Gauteng, Mpumalanga, and Limpopo on Sunday.
Forecaster Dipuo Tawana says the disruptive rain could lead to poor visibility and driving conditions.
“The high likelihood of significant impact expected include flooding of roads, flat and low-lying areas, possible damage to lying bridges, infrastructure, mudslides and rock falls.”
