Moses Lebiga (29) will remain behind bars
following his appearance in court on charges of fraud.
He appeared in the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Friday in connection with the possession of a card skimming device on Friday.
Police spokesperson Ndivhuwo Mulamu says Sebiga, who works as a petrol attendant, was arrested in Mamelodi.
“It is alleged that Lebiga defrauded clients at Total petrol station in Mamelodi East when filling up fuel tanks using bank cards in the few past months.”
Mulamu says they found various pin numbers during the arrest.
“An intelligence driven operation by the Hawks and Fraud Investigators at ABSA and First National Bank was conducted following suspicious fraudulent activities reported. During Lebiga’s apprehension at the petrol station yesterday, police seize a card skimming device and scrap paper with pin numbers on his possession”
The court remanded Lebiga in custody until 13 August for address verification and probing any pending criminal charges against him.
