Petrol to go up by 9 cents, diesel by 33 cents
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
South African motorists will have to dig a little deeper into their pockets from Wednesday amid another hike in the petrol and diesel prices.
Petrol will increase by 9 cents a litre in June, while diesel will rise by 33 cents a litre.
The carbon tax levy has contributed 9 cents to the price of petrol while also adding 10 cents to the price of diesel.
The basic price of petrol clocks in at R14.32 and diesel at R15.01 per litre.
The Automobile Association has expressed its concern over the carbon tax, saying “it’s only adding another layer of tax on top of the fuel prices”.
Spokesperson Layton Beard believes the introduction of the tax could lead to more job losses.
