PetroSA probes offshore pipeline leak near Mossel Bay
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
The Petroleum Oil and Gas Corporation of South Africa (PetroSA) has launched a probe after a leak was detected in one of its offshore pipelines.
The leak emanated from a condensate pipeline that runs from the FA offshore platform to the GTL refinery near Mossel Bay.
PetroSA found the leak in the vicinity of Nautilus Bay - about 500 meters away from the shoreline.
“The quantity of leaked material and the extent of contamination are unknown,” says PetroSA spokesperson Thandi Nameka.
Nameka adds that the investigation will also determine the exact location of the leak and define the appropriate repairs required.
“There was no immediate threat to public health.”
