Phala Phala theft accused back in court

Three people accused of theft at President Cyril Ramaphosa's Phala Phala farm are expected to return to the Modimolle Regional Court on Monday.

The accused, Imannuela David, Floriana Joseph, and Ndilinasho Joseph, are accused of stealing some R10 million from the president’s game farm in Limpopo in 2020.
The alleged mastermind, Imanuwela David, was remanded in custody during the last court appearance in August as he was deemed a flight risk, while the Joseph siblings were granted bail.
Floriana Joseph was employed as a domestic worker at the farm at the time, who allegedly provided access to the location of the funds.
The trio faces multiple charges, including conspiracy to commit housebreaking with intent to steal, as well as theft and money laundering.
The court previously postponed the matter in August to allow for the disclosure of the case docket and to secure an interpreter for David, who requires assistance in Oshiwambo, a language spoken in Namibia.
