ANC tweet causes outrage
Updated | By Suné du Toit
The ANC in Johannesburg tweeted a picture on their official Twitter page of a scantily clad woman wearing a bathing suit in the ruling party's colours, leading to outrage on social media.
The woman took a selfie in a mirror while wearing the bathing suit.
The picture was captioned: "What do make of this new ANC swim wear? #RegistrationWeek #VoteANC"
Social media reacted, questioning the ruling party's decision to post the photo and asking for it to be removed.
ANC spokesperson in Johannesburg, Jolidee Matongo said this they will investigate who posted the photo.
"I received the picture in another account of the ANC, which is a WhatsApp page, and I immediately said to the guys that we can't be associated with such. If somebody went ahead and put it there, then it's very unfortunate and they will have to face the music," Matongo said.
The tweet has since been deleted.
Here are some of the reactions captured before the tweet was deleted:
The ANC in Johannesburg later apologised for the tweet.
