PHOTO: Man survives after driving off a cliff

A man was lucky to escape with moderate injuries after the vehicle was in went off a cliff about 50m down, just short of the sea late last night.
It is understood that the man lost control of the vehicle he was driving, on Victoria Road between Hout Bay and Camps Bay, when going around a bend.
When ER24 and Life Healthcare paramedics arrived on scene they found the vehicle at the bottom of the cliff laying on its side on the rocks.
A man understood to be 35 years of age was trapped by the feet in the vehicle.
He had to be rapidly extricated as the tide was coming in.
Paramedics got the man out of the vehicle.
Metro Recue was also on scene. A steep slope rescue was conducted to get the man to the top of the cliff.
The man was treated and transported to hospital for further medical care.
The exact cause of the incident is unknown and authorities were on scene for further investigations.
