Police used rubber bullets and stun grenades to disperse students on Wednesday who were blocking the entrance of the University of the North West' Mahikeng campus with burning tyres and stones, it was reported on Thursday.
According to reports the North West University Mahikeng SRC president, Benz Mabengwana, addressed students advising them to stay away from classes, saying the Vaal and Potchefstroom campusses would also join the nationwide strike on Thursday.
There is reportedly a total shutdown at the Mahikeng campus.
