Five people were injured during an accident on the N1 South late on Tuesday when a truck collided with seven other vehicles.
According to Emer-g-med the truck's brakes failed just before the Rivonia offramp, in Sunninghill north of Johannesburg causing it to collide with the vehicles.
Traffic was severely affected by the accident.
Paramedics arrived on scene and found the truck had rolled during the collision, leaving the truck and other vehicles strewn across the highway.
Medics assessed the scene and found that five people had been injured in the crash.
The patients were transported to various health facilities for further medical care.
