PICS: One dead, several injured in JHB crash
One person died and several others were injured in a crash involving an SUV, a bakkie, and a car on the N12 to Johannesburg.
The accident happened about 18km from Potchefstroom, on Sunday.
ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said paramedics arrived on the scene and found that the SUV had rolled several metres and landed on its side in a veld.
“Fortunately the two occupants of this vehicle were uninjured. Sadly, a woman who was a passenger in the bakkie had succumbed to her injuries. The driver and three other people from the same vehicle sustained minor to moderate injuries. They were treated and transported to hospital by ambulance.”
The driver of the car was assessed and found to have sustained critical injuries. He was treated and airlifted to hospital by the ER24 medical helicopter. The cause of the accident was unknown and the authorities were on the scene for further investigations, Bodasing said.
