Updated | By Lindiwe Mpanza
A group of people stormed a City Power depot and vandalised at least 15 cars in Klipspruit, Soweto on Wednesday.
The group is suspected to have been part of a community protest over electricity.
The depot is located near the Nancefield train station.
City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena says three security guards were also attacked and assaulted.
"The suspects also broke into the offices that were locked for the night and stole, among others, computers. They then stole a City Power Toyota Quantum minibus, and broke the windows of at least 15 cars on-site, 7 belonging to the staff and 8 City Power vehicles including trucks.”
An assessment is currently underway to determine the cost of the break-in and vandalism.
No arrests have been made.
