At least four people were killed and roughly 300 injured after two trains collided in Mountain View on Tuesday.
ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring says medical services are on scene triaging and treating patients.
"A private medical helicopter did land on scene to airlift one of the critically injured patients to a nearby hospital," Meiring.
He says the details surrounding the incidents are not yet known.
Authorities are on the scene with several people reportedly still trapped.
Gauteng Metrorail Spokesperson Lillian Mofokeng says the terminal has been shut down pending the outcomes of the investigations.
"For now all those commuters who are possession of a valid train tickets we will be assisting them with bus services," Mofokeng says.
