Police commissioner: Policing has always been a dream
Updated | By MornéJK
Acting Police Commissioner, Khomotso Phahlane told the Complimentary Breakfast on Tuesday morning that policing has always been a dream for him.
Responding to a question from Jacaranda FM's Rian van Heerden, Phahlane said that he will not be drawn into the politics of policing or speak out against his predecessors.
Van Heerden referred to the late disgraced top cop, Jackie Selebi, who was found guilty of fraud and corruption as well as suspended police commissioner, Riah Phiyega.
"I am grateful that I am still able to serve my country and I am not going to focus on the national police commissioners before me," he told Jacaranda FM.
He added that he has immense respect for those who held the position before him.
I have respect for them and you can't control what people will say about you but you have control on your role in SAPS," he said.
He also said that he chooses not to listen to "detractors."
